Meltem Demirors
She helped scale Europe’s largest crypto firm to $7B.
Meltem Demirors has been at the center of major shifts in crypto over the last decade.
Before founding Crucible, her new early-stage fund focused on the infrastructure of our digital future, Meltem was Chief Strategy Officer at CoinShares.
A publicly traded digital asset manager with $7B in assets under management.
There, she led strategy, launched investment products, built a proprietary venture arm, and shaped CoinShares into one of the most trusted institutions in the space.
“We need to stop pretending crypto is a revolution. It’s an evolution. Change doesn’t happen overnight. It happens through systems, policy, and infrastructure.”
Meltem started investing in crypto companies in 2015, joining Digital Currency Group when it had fewer than 50 portfolio companies.
By the time she left, it had over 200, including Coinbase, Ripple, and Chainalysis.
At CoinShares, she backed founders before institutions were paying attention... years ahead of mainstream venture firms.
She’s made 100+ angel investments, taught blockchain strategy at Oxford and MIT, and served on the World Economic Forum’s Blockchain Council.
She’s also one of the rare voices in crypto who can talk about monetary policy, energy grids, and decentralized governance. All in the same sentence.
Her new firm, Crucible, isn’t just capital.
It’s a network. Of builders, technologists, and misfits. Focused on frontier tech like privacy, defense, crypto infra, and decentralized identity.
But her story starts long before Bitcoin.
Born in the Netherlands to Turkish immigrant parents.
Moved to Michigan at 10.
Studied mathematical economics at Rice.
Got an MBA from MIT Sloan.
First job? Trading oil and gas derivatives at ExxonMobil.
Second? Management consultant at Deloitte.
Third? Going all-in on crypto.
“I’ve always been most comfortable at the edge. Where things are messy, experimental, and unproven.”
In a space that rewards hype, Meltem plays the long game.
She’s not here for trends.
She’s here to build what comes after them.
