Mette Lykke
She saved 350 million meals from the trash.
When Mette Lykke quit her job at McKinsey, she had no idea what would come next.
“A lot of aspiring entrepreneurs are just sitting there in their corporate jobs waiting for that lightning moment. It’s not going to land in your lap... you just decide to go for it or you don’t.”
So she went for it.
She co-founded Endomondo, a fitness app born from nothing but grit.
And sold it to Under Armour for $85 million.
But that was just the beginning.
In 2016, riding a city bus in Copenhagen, she sat next to an angel investor.
He told her about a scrappy little startup trying to tackle food waste.
Weeks later, she was CEO of Too Good To Go.
A food-tech app that connects users with unsold food from local businesses at a discount.
Back then, it was saving 1,000 meals a day.
Today? Over 350 million meals across 19 countries.
Under her leadership, the app has helped prevent 945,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.
The equivalent of flying 3.2 million people from Berlin to London.
“Every bit of food saved from being wasted truly makes a big difference"
And Mette’s approach to impact isn’t all talk.
She bikes to work everyday and brings home leftovers from the office lunch buffet.
Her biggest lesson? Start before you’re ready.
“When you decide to go for it, you will come up with something because you have to.”
