Leah Busque
Would you quit a steady job at IBM to build a website? She did.
In 2008, Leah Busque Solivan was working as a software engineer at IBM when she had a late-night realization: What if you could hire someone online to run your errands?
Most people would sit on the idea.
Leah bought the domain RunMyErrand.com that night.
Four months later, she quit her job to build it.
TaskRabbit was born.
She assumed college students would be the main workers.
But the platform attracted retirees, parents, and underpaid workers… all looking for flexible income.
Soon, thousands of “Taskers” were assembling furniture, delivering groceries, and even dressing as hot dogs for birthday parties.
By 2017, TaskRabbit had expanded to 44 cities.
That same year, IKEA acquired the company, proving that Leah’s vision for flexible work was bigger than just odd jobs.
It was about the future of labor itself.
Today, Leah is a general partner at Fuel Capital, backing the next wave of disruptive startups.
From quitting her job in a recession to selling her company to one of the world’s biggest retailers... her story is proof that small ideas can lead to massive change.
