Julia Hartz

In 2006, she left Hollywood to start a ticketing platform.

Julia Hartz didn’t start in tech.

She was a TV executive working on Jackass, The Shield, and Nip/Tuck.

But in 2006, she co-founded Eventbrite, an online ticketing platform, with (her then-fiancé) Kevin Hartz.

For four years, they bootstrapped the company from a tiny office.

No outside funding. No big team. Just grit.

By 2018, Julia had taken Eventbrite public… one of the few women to ever lead a tech IPO.

The company was thriving.

Then came 2020.

Live events vanished overnight. Revenue plummeted.

Julia had to make impossible choices, cutting staff by 45%, refunding millions in tickets, and completely rebuilding the business.

Many companies never recovered.

Eventbrite did.

Under her leadership, the company pivoted, betting on virtual and hybrid events to survive.

Today, Eventbrite powers millions of gatherings worldwide.

Her leadership hasn’t gone unnoticed:
- Fortune’s 40 Under 40
- Inc.’s 35 Under 35
- Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs
