Adi Tatarko
What happens when a pissed-off mom can’t find a decent contractor?
In 2006, Adi Tatarko and her husband, Alon Cohen, were trying to remodel their Palo Alto home but finding trustworthy architects and decent design ideas was a mess.
So they did what few couples would: they built their own solution.
That’s how they launched Houzz... a humble side project turned juggernaut.
What started as a digital photo album now powers a $4B global platform with 65M+ users and 3M+ professionals.
Contractors, interior designers, and architects now use Houzz’s software to run projects, track revenue, and land clients.
But Adi? She never did it for the money.
“We didn’t build Houzz for the exit,” she said. “We built it because we were obsessed with solving the problem.”
That obsession paid off.
In 2017, Houzz secured a $400M funding round, elevating its valuation to $4B.
And Adi, an Israeli immigrant, mom of three, and former financial advisor, did it all without a tech background.
In 2024, she stepped down as CEO and passed the baton to her husband.
But make no mistake she’s still steering the ship as Executive Chair.
The proof? $430M in the bank and 40% average revenue growth for the pros who bet on Houzz.
