Shuo Wang

Can’t hire your dream candidate because of visa laws? Sick of HR nightmares when going global? She fixed that.

At 16, Shuo Wang moved from Shenyang, China to Baltimore with her mom and started selling scooters on weekends.

That was her first taste of business.

By 35, she’d built Deel (one of the fastest-growing SaaS companies in the world) and landed on Forbes’ list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women with a net worth of $850M.

The idea? Let companies hire anyone, anywhere, without getting crushed by visa restrictions or labor law nightmares.

Payroll in Peru? Contracts in Kenya? Tax compliance in Tokyo? Deel handles it.

She launched Deel in 2019 with her MIT classmate Alex Bouaziz.

Less than five years later, they passed $500M in annual revenue, raised at a $12B valuation, and reached profitability in 2022.

Today, it’s used by over 20,000 companies across 150+ countries.

But Deel wasn’t her first play.

After graduating from MIT with a degree in mechanical engineering and a focus on robotics, Shuo cofounded Aeris Cleantec (a Beijing-based air purifier startup) at a time when air pollution was front-page news and clean tech wasn’t yet sexy.

She helped engineer the product line, scaled the company, and drove it all the way to an acquisition by iRobot for $100M.
